OROFACIAL MYOFUNCTIONAL DISORDERS

Disorders of the muscles and functions of the face and mouth are orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMD's). OMD's can have a drastic affect on facial growth, chewing and swallowing, tooth eruption and occlusion, speech, and facial appearance. It is ideal to diagnose and treat OMD's at an early age before facial development occurs, but individuals of all ages can benefit from myofunctional therapy.
